2021 Tax Season Information
As a result of the transition to LPL Financial in 2021, what do I need to consider while preparing my taxes for 2021?
If your accounts transferred or converted to LPL Financial in year 2021, dependent upon account type and where the account was held, you could potentially receive the following tax statements:
- a statement from a prior financial institution (if you transferred money to Concord River Financial's management between 1/1/2021 and 7/26/2021)
- a statement from the converting account (Pershing and/or Ivy)
- a statement for reportable transactions at LPL. If your account was transferred to LPL on 7/26/2021, your LPL Tax Information Statement will only include activity from 7/26/2021 through 12/31/2021.
Which account(s) will receive Form-1099 Tax Information Statement(s)?
IRA Form 1099 Consolidated Tax Information Statements will be generated for non-qualified accounts such as Joint, Single Name, TOD and Trusts. For qualified retirement accounts such as IRA, Roth IRA and SEP, if you did not make a redemption from this type of account in 2021, you will not receive a Form 1099.
When should I anticipate receiving my Tax Statement(s)?
Original 1099 Statements will be mailed weekly in multiple waves beginning end of January, and dependent upon account holdings, these statements could be mailed as late as March 11.
- Certain mutual funds, unit investment trusts, real estate investment trusts(REIT's) and some equities are required to report their respective tax information to the financial institutions that are reporting to you -- and their tax report deadlines vary. As a result, if you hold these investment types, it may delay the receipt of your tax document to the later end of the distribution cycle.
- If you access your statements online, please do not use any form entitled "Prelim", as these accounts are still waiting for reclassification of particular holdings. Please plan accordingly with your tax professional, and refrain from officially filing your taxes until your original 1099 Statements are available.
Will my Tax Statements be available to me online?
Yes. Once finalized, 1099's will be available to those who have online login access established. If you have established 100% paperless access in LPL Account View, you will not receive original Form 1099 in the mail. Please see below for more detailed information regarding online access.
